On March 2016 UNESCO organized the exhibition 'Women's Role in Sustainable Development.' This was for International Women's Day 2016. Delegations nominated artists from five regional groups (including Asia-Pacific). Artists showed artworks that highlighted women’s role in sustainable development.
Bangladeshi artists Ms. Maksuda Iqbal Nipa and Mr. Mohammad Iqbal represented the Asia-Pacific region. The 10-day long exhibition was inaugurated by Ms. Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO. She called on the UNESCO member states and partners to join forces to advance gender equality.
